Company/Location Overview

Barton 1792 Distillery is a family-owned company based in Nelson County, Kentucky, whose rich distilling tradition dates back to 1789. Barton 1792 Distillery operates on the site of the historic Tom Moore Distillery, established in 1879 near the “Tom Moore Spring”, the same spring we draw our iron-free limestone water from today. The 192-acre distillery is home to beautiful wildlife and many historic buildings, including our still house and 28 aging warehouses. Barton 1792 is a fully operational distillery producing bourbon, rye, and corn whiskey on site and bottling labels.

Job Description/Responsibilities

1792 is looking for an experienced Shipping Supervisor to join our team in Bardstown. As the Shipping Supervisor, one will be responsible for (not limited to):

  • Ensure that transportation related activities are completed to ensure that customer orders ship out accurately and completely and that exceptions are either resolved in advance or properly communicated to the affected parties.
  • Develop and document SOPs and best practices to ensure highest standards for Shipping Department. Proactively generate ideas to improve the Shipping operation. Optimize available warehouse space to accommodate existing and new products. Manage and continuously improve the configuration of the warehouses. Maximize shipment throughput. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for shipping processes. Implement logistics and supply chain best practices.
  • Ensure inventory in assigned warehouses (on-site and off-site) is accurately accounted for. Investigate and fix inventory, receiving, and shipping errors. Ensure inventory is cycle counted. Oversee the employee cycle counts and adjustments. Oversee Customs Bond and Import receipts and ensure accurate reporting and filing.
  • Learn about, master, and develop the Warehouse Management System software (WMS). Train others to use the WMS. Act as primary contact for employees’ questions and problems with the WMS, RF devices, and other inventory or system related questions.
  • Through personal example and direct management, create an environment that supports self-directed work teams and productive employee relations while maintaining compliance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Investigate and report accident and injuries in the work place. Assess and audit work areas and develop new processes to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Document and improve Shipping Department processes. Use the system to manage and update processes.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable quality, safety, distribution and logistics standards, and GMPs, with a consistent focus on excellent customer service, and budgetary and regulatory guidelines.  Analyze and resolve problems relating to product quality, shipping errors or shipping delivery issues.
  • Work closely with manager to improve work related skill which will lead to improved performance, benefiting professional growth as well as the company's success.
  • Leads the Shipping Department in a manner consistent with the culture of the company.  Ensures employees are treated fairly and with respect.  Creates a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a difference in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

 

 

 

 

Salary range - $67,099 - $83,874

 

*Placement within the salary range is calculated based upon years of directly relatable experience for the position.

Qualifications/Requirements

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant civilian experience  
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Successful Track Record of Developing Subordinates into high-achieving, professional employees with positive attitudes.
  • Demonstrate successfully completed process improvement or best practice initiatives.
  • Experience with administering a Plant-wide or Departmental Safety Program

 

Preferred Qualifications:        

  • Distribution and Manufacturing software
  • Managing in a union environment
  • Previous experience working with Three tier distribution system
  • Wine and spirits industry experience
  • Supply Chain Experience
  • Exp with supervising a fast paced, high-demand environment with 10+ hourly employees as direct reports
  • Bachelor's Degree
