Job Description/Responsibilities

The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the company transportation fleet and drivers while improving logistics services across the company, to achieve on time deliveries, and minimize freight costs. This position works with all domestic and international customers, facilities and partners ensuring raw materials and finished products are transported safely, efficiently, balancing the costs and service levels and in compliance with all government regulations.

 

  • Monitor and enforce all DOT, federal, state and company safety regulations and policies. Ensure that all transportation activities are consistent with industry best practices on safety Lead safety programs for the Transportation Department through development and execution of safe practices and operating procedures to minimize the occurrence and severity of work related accidents. Oversee, reduce and manage the number of injuries and report all safety occurrences in a timely manner.
  • Build a customer service culture within Sazerac Transportation by delivering world class customer service. Support marketing/sales efforts to achieve brand/country/state priorities. Drive efforts to improve delivery, reduce costs and respond quickly to needs of customers. Develop and maintain solid professional working relationships inside and outside the company. Set a positive example and act in a manner consistent with company values. Ensure the Sazerac Vision is communicated throughout the organization; and communicate between transportation and the rest of the company providing proper coordination and feedback thus preventing miscues.
  • Develop logistics and transportation policies and procedures to be used at Sazerac Transportation and to support all Sazerac facilities. Once approved, develop tracking to ensure we are operating under the agreed upon policies and procedures. Drive development of systems and processes that measure and deliver value from the customer’s point of view. Ensure adherence to Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices.
  • Develop and maintain adherence to procedures and systems to manage the logistics and transportation costs at Sazerac Transportation and across the company. Drive costs reductions while balancing service levels.
  • Develop and achieve results with cost saving projects to reduce logistics costs each year. Track and report these projects on a quarterly basis.
  • Develop Logistic KPIs for Sazerac Transportation to support the company and drive adoption of the KPIs to measure and manage our business.
  • Develop and facilitate training and processes that ensure the fleet, carriers and customers' carriers are compliant with all DOT and federal/state alcoholic beverage regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct PDS reviews with direct reports to improve skills and performance utilizing PDS as tool to conduct optimal performance discussions, articulate consistent skill evaluations, recommend actions and tactics, and measure progress. Support the widespread use of PDS within the organization.
  • Provide mentorship, training and opportunity for the individuals in the department to grow within Sazerac based on their career development plan. Knows the career goals and plans for the team and works to develop and retain key successors in the organization.
  • Establish well organized priorities for yourself and make sure team members understand expectations of the priorities and tasks. Provide the appropriate parties with regular feed back and timely updates. Utilize PPT system to continuously improve planning and organization.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7 years relevant experience
  • 5 years Management experience

PREFERRED

  • Master's degree
  • Requires Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry

 

This is an on site position located in Jeffersonville, Indiana
