Job Description/Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability Manager - RSC

Bio: Responsible for: oversight and supervision of Maintenance personnel at the Cooperage and the Stave Mills in Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia; managing plant-wide preventative and restorative maintenance. Maximize efficiencies and reduce down-time. Responsible for the delegation of Supervisor level tasks, assisting Plant Engineer with plant-wide initiatives as assigned. Decrease equipment MTTR and increase MTB; to ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner; to identify training opportunities, develop / execute plan to close gaps, enhance level of staff; to identify/execute Maintenance & Capital improvement opportunities & projects.

 

  • Ensure that the Cooperage, Stave Mills and other operations achieve highest efficiency and quality possible through support of excellent maintenance and capital planning. Be an active member of tracking and reducing unplanned equipment downtime. Provide maintenance expertise to analyze and resolve problems relating to product quality and operational efficiency. Drive continuous improvement efforts within the RSC Maintenance department utilizing lean principles.
  • Apply the principles of Lean to areas of responsibilities. Create a culture of Continuous Improvement within the maintenance function. Provide maintenance resources and support in systematic problem-solving collaboration with manufacturing. Continually reduce MTTR and MTBF.
  • Supports the safety program through developing a safety culture. Ensure that tools and procedures are safe and personnel are properly trained in their use. Monitor maintenance employees and contractors for adherence adhere to safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee Maintenance Department equipment purchases and relationships with vendors and contractors. Manage companywide resources and standards. Provide direction to the maintenance team to ensure equipment readiness to deliver product on time within budget and to meet or exceed quality specifications.
  • Work with Operations team on to help develop cost savings projects by applying expertise to new methodologies and equipment to ensure production efficiency, maximize output and prevent downtime.
  • Leads the RSC Maintenance department in a manner that fosters trust and ethics. Treat all employees fairly and with respect. Create a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a positive difference. Provide support for maintenance team, employing change management strategies during the introduction of new equipment, systems, and initiatives
  • Conduct PDS reviews with applicable direct reports to improve skills and performance. Train, evaluate and develop maintenance team members. Create and develop a personal development plan to improve a skill/competency that will develop personal skills and improve performance.
  • Coach employees to improve skills and performance in the Maintenance Department. Motivate and manage employees to produce quality products within quality and efficiency guidelines. Evaluate employee performance and skill level to determine skill improvement needs and develop improvement plans to address. Create and develop a personal development plan with Plant Manager to improve a skill/competency that will develop personal skills and improve performance. Improve at least one skill each year as agreed with manager. Deliver on performance against outcome

Qualifications/Requirements

Requirements

MUST

  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Bachelors Degree or commensurate experience
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other office software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions and improvements
  • 5 years relevant experience (minimum)
  • 5 years Supervisory experience

PREFERRED

  • Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong project management capabilities and experience in overseeing complex, multi-site environmental initiatives.
  • 7 years progressive experience in plant operations/maintenance (minimum)
  • preventative maintenance
  • Hydraulics/Pneumatics background

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to work with the risk of electrical shock
  • Noise level at work station is loud (metal can manufacturing, large earth moving equipment)
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to read and write
