Job Description/Responsibilities

The EHS Manager - East Coast will serve as the primary contact for all EHS efforts at the 3 East Coast bottling facilities (ME/NH/MD), they will sit at the Maine facility.  Responsible for all records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies.  Leading and coordinating EHS performance improvement initiatives.  Leading the development, review, and revision of safety and environmental training programs. Support network wide EHS activities and initiatives.

 

  • Prepare and maintain documentation, reports and permits for compliance with federal, state, local agency regulations and company EHS standards. Ensure facilities maintain ongoing compliance with OSHA, EPA, Homeland Security and other relevant agency requirements. Manage and track environmental and safety metrics. Lead reduction of environmental impact and costs. Lead improvement in safety and workers’ compensation rates and cost. Serve as the interface with local, state and federal agencies. Ensures adherence to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Environmental Practices.
  • Develop, implement and maintain EHS programs, policies, procedures and best practices. Achieve reduction toward zero injuries at MBBM. Develop and execute safety training programs and requirements; lead an engaged and active safety committee; create and maintain a successful system to quickly identify and remedy safety hazards; oversee investigation of accidents, injuries & property damage; determine root cause of incidents and lead the development and implementation of corrective action plans; manage and track incident, injury and near-miss data and metrics. Oversee Contractor/Visitor Orientation Program. Lead the Incident Response Team.
  • Develop and drive a safety and environmental compliance culture which is integrated through everyone's day-to-day work along with a workforce which relentlessly pursues the identification and remediation of hazards. Support the Safe FEG, toward building a proactive culture where engagement and awareness drive everyone’s behavior, and all processes and systems, to provide a safe and secure environment.
  • Work with team members such as claim adjusters, managed care system, doctors, and management teams, and employees to mitigate time lost from work and claims expenses, ensure effective rehabilitation after injury, and assess causes and implement plans to prevent reoccurrence. Obtain and keep current the reporting and record keeping requirements for safety and workers’ compensation. Communicate and coordinate with safety and workers’ compensation related regulatory agencies.
  • Develop policies in support of the Safety, Environmental and Security Programs, providing training, leadership and guidance to all employees. Participate in the development, standardization, and implementation of company wide EHS policies.
  • Efficiently manage Safety, Environmental and Security CAPEX projects at MBBM within stated timeframes. Provide health and safety, guidance as a project team member on all CAPEX projects at MBBM. Work with the Safety FEG on network wide safety CAPEX.
  • Work with management teams on the execution of the Incident Response Plan/Crisis Management system at MBBM. Lead the Incident Response Team.
  • Participate in development of PDS plan and execute the plan to improve skills to meet job requirements. Ensure direct reports are receiving constructive feedback on their performance and have development plans to improve at least one competency each year.

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org

  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and related compliance experience
  • Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in EHS or related field
  • 5-10 years relevant experience (minimum)

PREFERRED

  • Requires Experience with administering a plant-wide or departmental safety program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise level at work station is loud (metal can manufacturing, large earth moving equipment)
