Job Description/Responsibilities

The Barrel Aging Warehouse Manager leads barrel aging operations while ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and maintains full regulatory compliance. You’ll drive process improvements across warehouse systems, reporting, inventory, and experimental programs, while championing modern tools like WMS and automated KPIs. You’ll develop a strong, skilled team—building future leaders, enhancing SOPs, and fostering a safety-driven, high-performance culture.  This role has 3 salaried direct reports and 60 hourly team members.

 

  • Lead a robust safety culture by overseeing the warehouse safety program, ensuring timely completion of work orders, and verifying that all employees receive required training
  • Manage all aspects of barrel quality and barrel-warehouse operations to maximize final product quality
  • Modernize and integrate vendor record-keeping systems, streamline reporting processes, and improve operational workflows
  • Oversee warehouse systems for experimental whiskeys, ensuring optimal use of System 21, AS400, and Access databases
  • Ensure precise execution of dump instructions, optimize bar-coding procedures, and champion the use of the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Create and maintain performance development plans, while helping identify and prepare future supervisors, team leaders, and crew needs
  • Manage the used bourbon barrel program, including customer relationships, planning, logistics, inventory control, and quality oversight
  • Ensure timely sampling, proper documentation, and seamless integration of sampling processes within WMS systems
  • Lead the team in implementing, updating, and documenting SOPs to enhance consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Foster a collaborative and empowered work environment that supports self-directed teams, strong employee relations, and full compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Contribute to the development of the Aging Warehouse Quality Assurance program, including barrel inspections, leak detection, and structural warehouse evaluations, while upholding all safety, quality, and environmental policies
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, TTB, and all applicable regulatory requirements for warehouse operations
  • Support public relation events as needed, including giving tours and hosting guests. Manage operations for the Single Barrel Program, including sampling, customer interactions, and warehouse coordination

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing both salaried and hourly teams, with a focus on safety and performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of interacting at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Professionalism and discretion with confidential information

 

Preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience
  • Prior leadership experience in warehouse, production, or operations management (preferably in spirits or manufacturing)
  • Experience with systems like System 21, AS400, and Access databases
  • Strong knowledge of safety management, regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, TTB), and quality assurance
  • Experience in project management and driving process improvements
