Company/Location Overview

1820 Spirits, located in Lewiston, Maine, is part of the Sazerac family of companies. Job Description/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include; technical support for the facility, capital project planning and implementation, technical training, NBD change-parts selection and management, as well as overall direction of the Engineering & Maintenance Teams. This position leads the development and execution of a 5-year capital plan, manages associated projects and budgets, supports the efficient usage of facility M&R budgets, and organizes and directs the vision and development of the Engineering & Maintenance Team 

 

  • Create a prioritized PDS plan with manager and direct reports, including tangible actions to achieve identified goals. Document progress and barriers to skill development, as related to the action items detailed within PDS plan, with comments in the system. Coach team towards improvement in identified areas. 

 

  • Obtain and keep current all environmental permits such as storm water, air, and sewer. Will support all equipment required to meet environmental requirements to make sure it is operating correctly. Ensure that all required sampling, testing and monitoring is occurring as required by the permits. Assist in maintaining all environmental records and submit required reports on time. Respond to all inquiries from environmental regulatory agencies and is primary contact with inspectors visiting the facility. 

 

  • Monitor and enforce all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Lead the safety programs for the Bottling Maintenance and Plant Wide Maintenance Departments through development and execution of safe practices, process documentation and insure understanding of Work Instructions to minimize severity of workplace accidents. Lead the Bottling Maintenance and Plant Wide Maintenance departments to reduce injuries and improve safety KPIs with the end state of zero recordable injuries. 

 

  • Establish and follow development plan to achieve career development and/or advancement. Responsible for developing department team, and works with all managers across the site to develop skills and results around continuous improvement. 

 

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across bottling maintenance and plant wide maintenance departments, accomplishing the production needs within safety, quality, budgetary and regulatory guidelines. Develop employees, and plans and implements operational improvements. Evaluates production efficiency and cost; plans, organizes, directs improvements and corrective action plans. Establishes work schedules, best methods, standard operating procedures and priorities to meet established efficiency and quality goals. Supports the development of PM programs, CMMS, and down-time tracking systems. Actively use Engineering solutions where needed. 

 

  • Lead all continuous improvement efforts across MBBM maintenance departments. Continually drive projects and processes across MBBM maintenance departments that have an ultimate goal of providing cost 

 

  • Drive department to achieve a Best in Class operation through the implementation of rigorous standards and processes. Plan, organize and direct improvements and corrective action plans. Implement structured data collection and analysis program. Work with the MBBM management team to successfully implement new initiatives. Lead the utilization of structured problem solving to identify the root causes of issues and put in place standards and processes to ensure sustainability. 

 

  • Drive department to achieve a Best in Class operation through the implementation of rigorous standards and processes. Plan, organize and direct improvements and corrective action plans. Implement structured data collection and analysis program. Work with the MBBM management team to successfully implement new initiatives. Lead the utilization of structured problem solving to identify the root causes of issues and put in place standards and processes to ensure sustainability. 

 

  • Reviews new product initiatives and determines best method for production and equipment needed; purchases equipment at best price and oversees installation and startup and provides ongoing engineering expertise to maximize output and minimize downtime. 

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST 

  •  Bachelors Degree in Engineering related discipline 
  • 5-7 relevant experience (minimum) 
  • 3-5 Supervisory experience 

PREFERRED 

  •  Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant government regulations 
  •  Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA requirements 
  •  Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles 
  •  Knowledge of capital and currency markets, Accounting, Finance and Tax 
  •  Strong computer skills and high comfort using technology and systems 
  •  Record of successful leadership 
  •  Strong analytical and technical skills 
  •  Ability to formulate compliance solutions acceptable to both Government Agencies and Company Plants 
  •  Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall
