Job Description/Responsibilities

Position Overview

The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and compliant transportation of materials to and from designated locations while adhering to all commercial driving regulations and company safety standards. This role ensures safe operation of truck and trailer equipment, accurate completion of required logs and documentation, and delivery of exceptional service to internal and external customers.

The CDL Driver operates in full compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier regulations and applicable DOT requirements, including drug and alcohol testing standards.


Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Safety

  • Safely operate commercial truck and trailer in accordance with DOT and company policies

  • Transport materials to and from specified destinations using knowledge of commercial driving regulations and regional road systems

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver logs and trip documentation

  • Secure loads to prevent shifting or damage during transport

  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, mechanical issues, or safety concerns

  • Comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing regulations

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with DOT, OSHA, and applicable Federal and State transportation regulations

  • Support TTB and regulatory compliance requirements where applicable

  • Maintain required certifications and endorsements

  • Ensure proper documentation for HazMat and tanker loads when applicable

  • Assist in managing fleet permits and licenses

Customer Service & Operations Support

  • Provide professional and timely service to customers and internal stakeholders

  • Ensure accurate and on-time deliveries

  • Communicate delays, route changes, or service issues promptly

  • Support safe loading and unloading activities

  • Maintain clean and professional vehicle appearance

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

  • Clean driving record

  • HazMat endorsement (required for certain roles)

  • Tanker endorsement (required for certain roles)

  • Must meet all Federal Motor Carrier and DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements

  • Ability to pass DOT physical and background requirements

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices


Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience

  • Experience transporting regulated or hazardous materials

  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs)

  • Experience with fleet compliance documentation
