Job Description/Responsibilities

The Warehouse Assistant Manager assists in leading the warehouse operation according to the standards set by federal, state and local agencies and company policy; coordinates necessary maintenance actions to maintain production; monitors production to meet Distillery objectives and ensure the schedule is met; assists with solving production related problems; leads the team through root cause analysis or other strategic initiatives; and manages team members working in the department.

 

  • Lead the development and career planning of supervisors and hourly staff, utilizing the PDS and CDS systems. Through personal example and direct management, create an environment that supports productive employee relations while maintaining compliance with relevant Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Direct aging warehouse operations at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Focusing on quality, innovation, and continuity of our distilling and aging processes.  Promote and represent the distillery to support the Marketing effort to establish the distillery as a highly recognized and respected producer of award winning spirits.
  • Lead the effort to assess & optimize organizational talent/structure by redeploying, hiring and training in Warehouse Operations.
  • Direct the design of systems and processes to improve the Warehouse department. Lead effective planning and scheduling of warehouse requirements.
  • Produce quality products while maximizing productivity, reducing costs, and leading new initiatives. Support new initiatives business development with innovative methods and product ideas.
  • Maintain quality and yield requirements for Buffalo Trace Distillery. Ensure the systems deliver functionality and promote quality, consistency and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Ensures the department is in compliance with applicable regulations. Continuously improve the quality of processes, products, services and the culture in which we work. Analyzes and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Lead safety awareness in the Aging Warehouse. Direct the creation and implementation of safety procedures and initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Record of successful leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • 2 years Supervisory experience

PREFERRED

  • implementation or project management experience.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • 1 year Experience managing in a union environment
  • 2 years Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • 1 year Experience in manufacturing software (ERP, MRP, MPS, WMS)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Noise level at work station is loud (metal can manufacturing, large earth moving equipment)
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • In-person job attendance
  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
