Job Description/Responsibilities

The Head of Modern Trade is responsible for driving sustainable growth and execution excellence across Sazerac’s key modern trade customers in Mexico, with a primary focus on Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco. This leadership role will shape customer strategies, strengthen strategic partnerships, and accelerate the growth of Sazerac’s portfolio across priority retail channels.

Working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, supply chain, and commercial teams, the Head of Modern Trade will ensure best-in-class execution across distribution, visibility, pricing, promotion, and category growth initiatives. The role requires a strong commercial leader who can identify growth opportunities, influence key stakeholders, and deliver measurable business results in a dynamic retail environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accelerate Modern Trade Growth

Lead the commercial strategy and execution for Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco to deliver sustainable revenue growth, increased distribution, and improved market presence across priority brands and categories.

  • Strengthen Customer Partnerships

Build trusted, strategic relationships with key customer stakeholders to position Sazerac as a preferred growth partner and unlock long-term joint business opportunities.

  • Drive Execution Excellence

Ensure flawless execution of assortment, pricing, promotional calendars, visibility initiatives, and Perfect Store standards across all assigned accounts.

  • Improve Cross-Functional Alignment

Partner closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Trade Marketing, and Distributor teams to ensure commercial plans are aligned, executable, and support long-term business objectives.

  • Build Data-Driven Commercial Decisions

Leverage customer, market, and performance insights to identify opportunities, solve business challenges, and continuously improve channel performance.

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications

 

Must

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Commercial, Key Account Management, or Modern Trade roles within FMCG, Spirits, Beverage, or Consumer Goods industries
  • Proven experience managing national Modern Trade customers, preferably Walmart, Sam's Club, and/or Costco
  • Strong commercial and negotiation experience with responsibility for revenue growth and customer management
  • Strong analytical and execution capabilities, including business analysis, reporting, dashboard development, presentation creation, execution tracking, and data-driven commercial decision-making.
  • Experience leading Joint Business Planning processes and promotional strategies with national retail chains
  • Advanced financial acumen with experience managing trade investments and commercial performance
  • Demonstrated ability to operate successfully in fast-paced, matrixed, or lean organizations, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution and cross-functional collaboration
  • Advanced English proficiency

Preferred

  • Experience within alcoholic beverages, spirits, or highly regulated consumer goods categories
  • Experience working with distributors and cross-functional commercial structures
  • Exposure to revenue growth management, category management, and Perfect Store execution models
  • MBA or postgraduate studies in Business or Commercial Management
