Job Description/Responsibilities

Position: Political and Special Events Manager

Location: Washington D.C.

As the Sazerac House of DC's Political and Special Events Manager, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following:

  • Inventory control as well as be able to reconcile inventory and "bar tabs" for bookkeeping.
  • Work with Marketing Services Team to control costs and ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure world class customer service is provided to Meeting and Event attendees.
  • Show creativity in working with fundraisers in creating new, themed events.
  • Develop complete understanding of the focus brands for the Sazerac House in DC (SHDC).
    • Coordinate with marketing teams to generate brand-specific events.
    • Increase brand recognition among stakeholders (Members of Congress, Administration).
    • Become the favorite place for campaign fundraisers through a top-notch facility, service, creativity and ease of doing business.
    • Provide donations and sponsorships for organizations from the Sazerac House based on budgets.
  • Work with VP Government Relations and entire Marketing Services Team to produce excellent events to showcase and market SHDC in the most brand building way possible.
  • Monitor and evaluate priorities and processes as they relate to meetings and events.
    • Make recommendations on changes needed based on event growth.
    • Identify and complete processes necessary for the smooth operation of all SHDC events.
  • Build and use internal systems for all major external contacts to build usage of SHDC facilities.
    • Provide excellent follow up to meeting and event organizers to generate repeat business.
    • Use existing system to establish an on-line calendar for those interested in using SHDC; establish a group of bartenders familiar or who are willing to become familiar with our products.
    • Establish a list of service contractors to maintain SHDC.
    • Integrate with brand management team for alignment on core brand building platforms within the Sazerac House.
    • Work with VP Government Relations, DC State Manager on participation in relevant DC events and solicit involvement.
  • Work with the team in the organization and implementation of the SHDC, as it relates to meeting and event generation.
  • Manage Sazerac House' Brand activities to generate "raving fans" of Sazerac Company brands.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights/weekends)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to project a professional image
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Experience dealing with VIP guests
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, especially Excel
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of developing strategic partnerships with various client groups, including internal and external groups


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Highly effective negotiation skills
