Buffalo Trace Distillery is an American family-owned company based in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky. The Distillery's rich tradition dates back to 1773 and includes such legends as E.H. Taylor, Jr., George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee. 

 

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a fully operational Distillery producing bourbon, rye and vodka on site and is a National Historic Landmark as well as is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Distillery has won 17 distillery titles since 2000 from such notable publications as Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate Magazine and Wine Enthusiast Magazine. It was named “Brand Innovator of the Year” by Whisky Magazine at its Icons of Whisky America Awards 2015.  Buffalo Trace Distillery has also garnered more than 300 awards for its wide range of premium whiskies.  The distillery is part of the Sazerac family of companies.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Safety Department, the Safety Co-op position offers the diversity and hands on training needed to become an effective, well rounded safety professional by exposure to both technical and administrative duties, working with all departments on a variety of safety related initiatives and activities.

 

This is a co-op opportunity of 40 hours per week for a fixed period of time.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's level degree in Environmental Science, Health, Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Minimu of 20 years of age
  • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with very strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Solid analytical and problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, yet self-starting and results-oriented
  • Willing to travel throughtout the facility and interact with the employees to learn each and every job
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Physical Demands:

  • Observe and assess work practices and exchange accurate information with others
  • Operate computer and other office productivity equipment
  • Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Maneuver in the office and plant floor
  • May lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
