    Barton 1792 Distillery is part of Barton Brands of Kentucky, with facilities in Bardstown, KY., Carson, CA., and Baltimore, MD. Barton Brands is owned by the Sazerac Company, an American family-owned company based in New Orleans, LA. Barton 1792 Distillery was established in 1879 and continues today as the oldest fully-operating distillery in the “Bourbon Capital of the World.”

     

    The distillery is located on 196 acres and includes 28 warehouses, 22 other buildings, the Morton Spring and the Tom Moore Spring.  Distilling, aging and bottling fine Bourbon whiskey are hallmarks of the historic Barton 1792 Distillery. 1792 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is produced at Barton 1792 Distillery. This small batch Bourbon whiskey is named for the year Kentucky became a state and is the recent Best of Category winner at the 2014 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition.

    Job Description/Responsibilities

    Position: Quality Manager

    Location: Bardstown, KY

     

    As the Quality Manager for Barton 1792 Distillery, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following priorities:

    • Total Quality Management: Responsible for implementing and instituting HACCP initiatives
    • Regulatory and Legal Compliance: Ensuring all Regulatory and Legal quality compliance documents are prepared, submitted, and maintained accurately.
    • Safety Program: Lead a culture of prevention, support established safety programs and training; and communicate/mentor safety standards throughout the organization.
    • Auditing Project: Develop and implement auditing to measure and track the Quality performance of the facility.
    • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: participate with Continuous Improvement efforts at the facility.
    • Supplier Specifications: Work in partnership with the Purchasing and Procurement teams to ensure comprehensive adherence to Supplier Specifications, to prevent Supplier issues from affecting facility operations, such as case coding issues, material imperfections, contamination, etc.
    • Outcome and Processes Project: Provide support in documenting facility processes; lead the reduction of waste, improvements in quality and cost savings strategies.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate Degree
    • 5 - 10 years relevant experience
    • Supervisory Experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • ISO/HACCP implementation/management experience
    • Solid computer skills
    • Strong analytical and technical skills
    • Strong planning and organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • APICS Certification or Six Sigma Certification
    • Experience designing and/or implementing OSHA, HACCP, USDA programs
