Job Description/Responsibilities

The Curator of Visitor Experiences will assess, collect, organize, and preserve the archives of the Sazerac Company and its facilities through appraising, maintaining, and editing permanent records and historically valuable documents and artifacts; provide access to significant records determined to have long-term value to the company; and manage implementation of the Homeplace Master Plan at all Sazerac Company facilities

 

  • Identify number one skill development yearly with manager and improve on that skill. Use PDS as a tool to monitor performance and evaluate skills.
  • Oversees the acquisition, organization, cataloging, processing, care and accessibility of archival materials, as well as maintaining Sazerac Company institutional archives.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to grow the reputation of the Sazerac Company Archive. Efforts may include attending/speaking at conferences, working with community organizations and Universities, and applying for awards that highlight projects completed at our facilities to generate interest in visiting our Homeplaces.
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures as they relate to company collections. Take lead role in development and implementation of the Homeplace Master Plan across all facilities. Design plans to incorporate assets with new acquisitions and visitor experiences.
  • Interpret the history of the buildings and make recommendations on how to move forward with restoration and preservation plans. Ensure correct historic guidelines are met and correct materials are used in work completed at all Sazerac Homeplaces.
  • Assist in the development of the Homeplace Master Plan at all Sazerac Company locations. Document the HMP database with themes for all locations within each facility. Work with designated HMP lead at each facility to design and implement plan.
  • Work with team on ensuring historic integrity and brand standards of the Buffalo Trace Distillery, and all other Sazerac Company Homeplaces. Research and build brand histories on all priority brands acquired by Sazerac.
  • Works with fabricators to aid in the development of visitor experiences at Sazerac Homeplaces through exhibits and artwork. Manages Archive staff in the development and installation of displays.

PREFERRED

  • Must be a self-starter and able to work alone.
  • Skilled in photography and video editing
  • Solid computer skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • 3 years experience developing and managing collections
