Job Description/Responsibilities

The Director of Global Tax Reporting will provide oversight, leadership, and development of the compliance and tax accounting team. The position will work cross-functionally and collaborate closely across the  controlling, treasury and  IT teams to support and operationalize tax and business strategies. Strong focus on developing and demonstrating new skills, standardizing processes, and enhancing technology. The role will responsible to tax compliance and reporting for the consolidated group.

  • Conduct PDS reviews with direct reports to improve skills and performance utilizing PDS as tool to conduct optimal performance discussions, articulate consistent skill evaluations, recommend actions and tactics, and measure progress. Support the widespread use of PDS within the finance organization. Promote and support Company culture within the finance organization.
  • Provide mentorship, training and opportunity for the individuals in the department to grow within Sazerac based on their career development plan. Knows the career goals and plans for the team and works to develop and retain key successors in the organization.
  • Partner with Human Resources Business Partner & Talent Acquisition to ensure thorough candidate evaluations are occurring in the hiring process leading to high-quality candidates and good hiring decisions. Ensures use of Sazerac hiring and staffing system and processes.
  • Maintain the integrity of the company's controls by testing / inspecting existing controls and updating controls as needed.  Ensure fulfillment of fiduciary responsibilities (safeguarding company assets).  Ensure Company is in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
  • Lead and continue to develop global tax capabilities for a multi-national company, including managing domestic and offshore resources. Monitor legislative changes in US and foreign tax laws that may impact the Company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications. Oversee and/or complete special projects as required.
  • Support M&A in due-diligence through coordination on an as needed basis. Assist with integration of acquisitions from tax accounting standpoint (PPA and IRC1060 Allocation)
  • Establish and maintain formal tax policies, practices and procedures to ensure US GAAP compliance and strong internal controls. Oversee  tax compliance matters related to foreign operations (income tax, VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
  • Support the business in their stated growth initiatives.
  • Play a lead role in analyzing and planning to improve tax compliance and accoutning though process improvements and technology enhancements.
  • Challenge, develop and improve processes to drive efficiencies and improve performance. Develop/Recommend processes that are aligned with company policies and programs; communicate processes, provide training as needed to ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement and flawless execution of all processes and systems.

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • experience building and leading teams including hiring & staffing, developing, motivating and directing people. 
  • Experience leading tax accounting and/or compliance team
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
  • Advanced financial analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature
  • 10 years tax experience 

PREFERRED

  • CPA certification, Master’s Degree in Taxation or J.D. / LL.M. (taxation) is preferred
  • 2 years experience in Tax Accounting
